Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Add the all-purpose flour to the pan and cook, constantly whisking, until the flour mixture turns light golden brown.
Pour the beef broth into the pan, ¼ cup at a time. Whisk it thoroughly after each pour.
Once you add the beef broth, continue to whisk the liquid until it thickens (3-4 minutes). Turn the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
